Highlights from the Annual Report

  

• John Afoa, Jerome Kaino, Keven Mealamu, Isaia Toeava and Ali Williams were selected for the All Blacks which won the Rugby World Cup.

• Gareth Anscombe, Steven Luatua, Charles Piutau and Francis Saili were selected for the New Zealand Under-20 squad who won the IRB Junior World Championship.

• Auckland’s Mark Anscombe was the coach of the World Championship winning New Zealand Under-20 team, and Grant Hansen was selected as head coach the Black Ferns.

• Northern Region titles were won by the B’s, Under-20, Under-18 A, Secondary School Girls, Under-16 Central and Under-14 South.
• Kelston Boys High School was crowned New Zealand’s champion 1st XV team after defeating Wesley College. St Kentigern College won the national co-educational 1st XV title for the second year in a row.

• Auckland Storm won their 13th national title, going through the NPC undefeated. 14 members of the squad were selected for the Black Ferns: Eloise Blackwell, Rawinia Everitt, Fiao’o Fa’amausili, Victoria Grant (c), Trish Hina, Emma Jensen,  Justine Lavea, Kalani Matapo, Karina Penetito, Vita Robinson, Aroha Savage, Doris Taufateau, Hazel Tubic and Renee Wickliffe.

• Ponsonby defeated Grammar Carlton to claim their eighth consecutive Gallaher Shield title.

• Sootale Fa’aoso, Jarrod Poi-McAlister, Barnaby Abdale-Weir, Taniela Napa’a, Faraimo Tuifau, Tim Clever, Simon Hickey, Nu’u Nu’u, Ngataua Hukatai, Braxton Stanley, Cameron Rutherford, Simona Lokeni, Bram Egli and Sinclair Murray were named in the New Zealand Under-17 training squad.

• Bryce Heem played for the New Zealand Sevens team.

• Dillan Halaholo, Sione Mafileo, Scott Scrafton, Joe Edwards, Brandon Nansen, Patrick Tuipulotu, Simon Hickey, Ngataua Hukatai, Calvary Fonoti, Roger Tuivasa-Scheck and Lolagi Visinia played for the New Zealand Secondary Schools team.

• Tom Vaughn, Wyatt McKay, Josh Townsend, Alby Herron, David Ormrod, Brad Linklater, Andrew Parata and Jamie Helleur represented New Zealand Universities.

•  Auckland referees Jonathon White, Ben Skeen, Shaun Elliot and Sheldon Eden-Whaitiri were selected in the National Squad while Rob Parkes, Richard Jensen, Kyle Harris and Angus Mabey were selected in the Northern Region Squad.

• The Auckland Under-85kg team retained the New Zealand Barbarians Trophy and the Challenge Trophy and won the Titan Cup.
