ARFU Coach Education & Development Programmes

Coaching rugby is all about enjoyment, friendship, participation, and the step-by-step development of both team and individual skills. Your contribution as a coach is vital to the continued growth of our game in the Auckland province and to ensure it's long term future strength and wellbeing.

To assist you in your development as a coach, the Auckland Rugby Union offers a wide range of NZRU-recognized coaching courses which are facilitated by Auckland Rugby staff and resource coaches. These are designed to meet the specific development needs of the players and coaches at each level of the game you are working with.

ARFU Coach Education & Development Programmes 2010

Coaching is a tremendously rewarding and enjoyable way of making a positive contribution to the wonderful game of rugby. Auckland remains a powerful force in New Zealand rugby and ARFU recognises the valuable role its coaches play in growing the game.

The Coach Development Programme is designed to offer value to coaches at all levels of the game with the aim of creating better coaches. All courses are NZRU recognised and are facilitated by Auckland Rugby staff and resource coaches. The courses will focus specifically on coaching methods and processes. ARFU also facilitates a coaching workshop programme that delivers up-to-date ‘best practice’ knowledge and drills. Find further details of this programme below.

  • All coaching resources used on each course are supplied free of charge to coaches who complete the course and are coaching in Auckland.
  • Coaches who are coaching overseas or within another New Zealand Province will incur a course fee and cost for any resources.
  • Any course that has (A) or (B) means the same course is run twice.
