New Zealand Rugby have announced the 2022 Bunnings Warehouse NPC competition draw. The competition will take on a new format, with all 14 Provincial Unions competing for one National Provincial Title.

The 2022 season will kick off with a highly anticipated edition of “The Battle of The Bridge” with North Harbour. The last clash between the two sides was in 2020 when North Harbour scrapped through with a 23-22 victory at QBE Stadium.

The “Battle of The Bridge” will be part of a Triple Header at Eden Park that will celebrate the rich history of rugby in Auckland.

The opening fixture will round off the Triple Header at the home of rugby with the Auckland Storm playing Manawatu in their FPC fixture and a historical Gallaher Shield Final as Auckland Rugby celebrate 100 years of the Premier Men’s competition.

It will be a special day for our men in the Blue and White Hoops, who for many, would have raised the hallowed Gallaher Shield for their club and community during its 100-year history.

The second Triple Header at Eden Park will be on August 27 against Otago when the Auckland Storm will welcome Wellington in the FPC and the two top Auckland Secondary Schools will battle it out for the prestigious 1A title.

The Blue and White Hoops will also welcome Tasman to Eden Park, the only team to beat Auckland in the 2021 competition. Bay of Plenty and Taranaki will also make their way to Tāmaki Makaurau to face the 17-time NPC champions.

The fixture against Otago will be part of a Double-Header at Eden Park, with the Auckland taking on Wellington.

Auckland will be on the road to Southland, Northland, Manawatu, Canterbury and Waikato.

The competition will add in a Quarter-Finals round, with the Final on October 23.
