Auckland skipper Harry Plummer to hit the big 5-0 in round 2 match versus the Mako

Auckland Rugby NPC captain Harry Plummer will run out for his 50th match on Saturday 12 August as the Gulls take on the Tasman Mako in round 2 of the 2023 Bunnings Warehouse NPC.

Plummer will start at second five-eighth in Lansdowne Park, Blenheim with the milestone match kicking off at 7.05pm as the blue and white hoops look to make it two on the trot.

The former deputy head boy of St Peter’s College and Grammar TEC premier club captain has cemented himself as a mainstay of the Auckland side since his debut in 2017 and has recently overcome a shoulder injury that saw him spend most of the 2022 season on the sidelines to return to fighting form for Auckland.

Ben Ake has been named on the bench and will look to make his provincial debut against the Mako.

The Gulls are coming off the back of a clutch win over the Bay of Plenty Steamers at Tauranga Domain last Sunday 6 August, with Zarn Sullivan nailing a conversion from out wide to seal a last gasp win 32 – 30 and secure The John Drake Boot trophy safely in the Auckland Rugby trophy cabinet.
