Harry Plummer called into All Blacks Squad

 Auckland Rugby

Harry Plummer was preparing to play for Auckland this Friday, but the All Blacks had their own plans.

In a press conference like no other, All Blacks assistant coach Jason Ryan announced changes to the All Blacks squad due to injuries within 12 seconds.

And in the last sentence, he announced a name that was well-deserved for a call to the New Zealand national team.

Harry Plummer has been called into All Blacks camp for injury cover of Stephen Perofeta.

“Scott Barrett is out for two tests, (for) Argentina Ardie (Savea) is captain, Cody (Taylor) is vice-captain and Jordie Barret.

“Harry Plummer’s come in for injury cover for Stevie (Stephen) Perofeta.” Said Ryan.

It’s unsure if the 26-year-old Plummer will make his debut for the men in Black however, after his 2024 winning season with the Auckland Blues, it wouldn’t be a surprise.

The playmaker brings added versatility to the All Blacks squad as he is a stand-out number 10 but also has had many games at second-five-eighth and fullback.

He’s proven for both the Auckland NPC team and the Blues that he can kick goals by being the 4th highest point scorer in Super Rugby Pacific, with most of it coming from kicking conversions.

At Auckland’s NPC training this morning, Harry Plummer's father, Mark Plummer, announced to the team that Harry would miss their NPC opener against Wellington this Friday.

Instead, Harry will be away at All Blacks camp for the next couple of weeks and the Auckland team rejoiced in happiness.

Auckland NPC Head Coach, Craig McGrath had nothing but praises for the ex-St Peters College 1st XV captain.

“That’s our job eh, to promote (our) people, Super Rugby and then All Blacks. So great to see Harry there and it’s thoroughly deserved.

“If there’s one person in this region who epitomises professionalism, epitomises this union in particular is the Plummer family but Harry is the ultimate pro and has been for a long time.” Said McGrath

Auckland will begin their NPC campaign against Wellington this Friday at Eden Park, with kick-off at 7:35 pm.

The All Blacks will also play at Eden Park the following Saturday, August 17th, against Argentina (7:05 pm).
