Former New Zealand Secondary Schools and Under 20s player Jordan Trainor has signed for Auckland for the next two Mitre 10 Cup seasons.
The St Peter's Old Boy took up a contract with Waikato directly after school and has played the last two seasons in Hamilton. He is also currently contracted by the Blues.
"I decided to come back to Auckland because it is home for me," said Trainor.
"Growing up Auckland was always the team I wanted to play for so when I got the opportunity to come back I was pretty excited."
Auckland Rugby High Performance Manager Ben Meyer said Trainor will be an asset to Auckland.
"He has taken his opportunities in Waikato and has done well. It's a no brainer to have an ex-Auckland boy, who is contracted to the Blues, to also come back and play for Auckland so we jumped on that opportunity to offer him something.
"He was keen to come home and we're looking forward to having him back," said Meyer.
Trainor is looking forward to getting out on the field after a injury-plagued 2015.
"What I hope to achieve is to get consistent game time, with the Blues and Auckland, just getting back on the field and playing week by week," said Trainor.
Earlier last week Simon Hickey, Liaki Moli and Joe Edwards all announced they are taking offshore contracts.
Hickey is returning to Bordeaux, where he will be joined by Edwards, while Moli is contracted with the Sunwolves in Japan.
