The premier rugby competition comes to an exciting conclusion this weekend with Eden Park hosting the Gallaher Shield final.

The premiers, premier development and Under 20 grades all celebrate their finals this weekend and plenty at stake to finish the club season.

Suburbs return to the Gallaher Shield final for the second year in a row and are set to face University, who prior to spending 2016 in the bottom eight, had appeared in the previous three finals.

The teams have met just one this season, in the opening round of the Alan McEvoy Memorial Shield round, with Suburbs securing a narrow 17-10 victory.

If supporters can’t make it to Eden Park for the match, they won’t have to miss the action, with a live stream available to watch on the Auckland Rugby website and Facebook Live.

The curtain raiser presents an enticing match with Auckland’s top young talent on offer. The Under 20 final will see Papatoetoe come up against Marist.

Papatoetoe come into the match in fine form, a nine-match winning streak to be precise. Marist are no easy-beats whoever, proving that with a convincing semi-final victory over competition favourites College Rifles.

Familiar faces will contest the Premier Development final, Pakuranga hosting Ponsonby who between them have won the last three George Nicholson Cup titles.
