Auckland Rugby is excited to announce the appointment of Mark Ozich as Assistant Coach for the Auckland NPC team ahead of the 2026 season.

Ozich joins the programme with extensive experience across both the professional and community game, bringing proven success, strong leadership and a deep understanding of the modern game.

Most recently, he was Attack Coach for the Western Force in Super Rugby Pacific from 2022 to 2024, helping shape an exciting and effective attacking style.

Prior to that, he was Head Coach of the Hawke’s Bay Magpies from 2018 to 2021, leading the side to the 2020 NPC Championship title and a successful Ranfurly Shield tenure.

Importantly, Ozich’s coaching journey began in Auckland, with early roles including Auckland Rugby Resource Coach, Head Coach of the Waitemata Premieres, and involvement across age-grade and secondary school programmes.

His appointment marks a homecoming, returning to the region where his coaching career first took shape.

Auckland NPC Head Coach Steve Bates said Ozich’s experience and connection to the region made him an outstanding addition to the group.

“Mark brings a strong mix of experience, energy and connection to Auckland rugby. He’s proven he can build environments where players grow and perform, and his recent work at Super Rugby level adds real value to our programme. Just as importantly, he understands this region and what it means to represent Auckland. We’re excited about what he’ll bring to the group as we build toward the 2026 season.”

Widely respected within the game, Ozich is known for his ability to connect with players, build strong environments and drive performance.

Auckland Rugby looks forward to the impact he will have as the team prepares for the 2026 NPC season.
