What Is It?
The Auckland Rugby Cup is a knockout competition involving Premier Men’s clubs from across four divisions in Auckland club rugby. Each division competes for both a Cup and Plate title, creating meaningful contests and opportunities for every team throughout the series. In Division 1, teams compete for the Auckland Rugby Cup, while Division 2 teams play for the Patrick Tuipulotu Cup. Divisions 3 and 4 also compete for their own Cup and Plate honours. In 2026, Musashi joined the competition as naming rights partner, further strengthening support for the community game through prize money and performance product support.
How It Works
Played over three consecutive weekends, clubs compete in win-or-go-home fixtures within their respective divisions, progressing through Cup or Plate pathways towards finals. The format creates exciting local rivalries, opportunities for upsets and a fast-paced start to the club rugby season, while still sitting within the wider Auckland premier competition structure.
